Eat: Dinner with Martin Yan

Head towards Cassia and enjoy a fine dining experience hosted by none other than celebrity chef Martin Yan himself. The culinary maestro will be whipping up a five-course contemporary Chinese meal. Expect dishes such as smoked marinated quail with wine-poached pears. Make your reservation soon!

Drink: Coffee and Tea at Smitten Cafe

Cafes are a dime a dozen in Singapore, but what makes Smitten so special is their cold drip coffee. This quaint indie cafe offers a variety of cold drip coffees – coffee that is lower in acidity, smoother, and sweeter. Non-coffee drinkers would appreciate the  assortment of tea flavours that include unique flavours like Nilgiri Frost Tea and Kyoto Houjicha.

 Play: 5th Singapore Indie Arts Fest

Tired of the typical blockbuster offerings? Catch the emotionally-stirring film Diamond Inside: A Graffiti Affair in Cape Town at the 5th Singapore Indie Arts Fest. This documentary follows a group of Spanish mural artists around Cape Town, as they use their colourful murals to spread a message of hope to the South African people. Tickets at $8/$5.

 Eat: Din Tai Fung

This popular Chinese restaurant has added a delicious new concoction, Truffle Chicken Soup, to the menu! While you’re there, be sure to check out their limited edition Mid-Autumn Taiwan Pineapple Mooncake Set – eight pineapple mooncakes that come with two boxes of premium Jasmine tea – all for just S$24.80! Everyone likes a good Tuxedo, and not just because Danial Craig looks incredibly delicious in one. Featuring an array of European coffee and pastries, the cafe is perfect for lazy Sunday afternoons. Enjoy a cup of fine Italian coffee and pair it with their signature Tuxedo cake, which is made with Valrhona chocolate.

Play:Bump at Butter Factory

Everybody’s favourite club has revamped its R&B section with gorgeous new interiors that retain the whimsical, eccentric flair Butter is well-loved for. This Saturday, it’ll be hysteria on the dancefloor as Stanley (AOS) and MC Ej take over the decks.

9 September (Sunday)

Eat: Take a break at Ikyu

Ikyu means “take a break” in Japanese, and it is certainly reflected in the lazy, nouvelle location that it is situated in. At first look, Ikyu looks nothing like a Japanese restaurant, and in that holds its charm. The 54-seat diner aims to give their guests  cosy and friendly vibe. Don’t miss out on the super-fresh sushi (the fish is said to be supplied from Tokyo’s Tsukiji Market!)
